LEED Projects/Involvement:
Lois' career has been both driven and distinguished by environmentally sound building practices. Her portfolio consists of more than 60 LEED projects. Since 1997 she has been working in LEED for new construction, LEED for commercial interiors and more recently, LEED for existing buildings.  For projects where sustainable design is paramount to the program for the building, Lois acts as both project designer and lead sustainable proponent. Most recently, Lois was the designer for Hidden Oaks Nature Center a LEED NC v2.2 Platinum certified project.  Other projects include a LEED for retail Gold certified McDonald's, West Hall LEED NC v2.2, a residence hall and 388 Greenwich St, NY, a LEED CI v2.0 Silver certified interiors project for Citigroup.  Lois often engages clients and project teams very early in the design process in half day EcoCharettes to align a client's environmental priorities with the opportunities and strategies available in the suite of LEED Rating Systems.

Personal Narrative:
As a practicing architect for more than 20 years, Lois' career has often strayed outside the domain of project design.  She has participated in the development of policies to lessen the negative impacts of the built environment on the health of people and on our natural resources.  Her strong suit is found in the intersection between applied technologies and the development of policy provisions.  In addition, Lois applies these technologies and practices to leading edge sustainable designs and consulting to design teams and clients to maximize the environmental potential for projects.  Besides her work as a practicing architect, Lois is adjunct faculty at Northwestern University where she teaches a course in sustainable construction.
