PERSONAL NARRATIVE:

Robert J. Kobet, AIA, LEED AP is president of Sustainaissance International, a multifaceted architectural consulting firm specializing in sustainable design and development and environmental education. Since 1977 Bob has specialized in environmentally conscious architecture and allergy free non toxic design for a variety of clients.  Bob has consulted on projects in nine countries on five continents ranging from tree houses in a county park in Pennsylvania to consulting with the Cultural Section of the State Department on sustainable design and development in Argentina, the Government of Dubai and the Micro Energy Building in the Beijing Olympic Village.


In addition to his professional practice Bob has enjoyed a 25 year parallel career in teaching including Adjunct Professor of Architecture at Carnegie Mellon University School of Architecture and his current position as part time faculty at the University of Miami.  Along the way he was instrumental in creating the country's first Master of Science in Sustainable Systems at Slippery Rock University, a degree he now holds.
Bob is the Chair of the USGBC LEED for Schools Committee and co-author of the LEED for General Contractors and Project Managers workshop.  He is a member of the original group of LEED faculty selected in 2000. Since then he has instructed hundreds of workshops around the US and the world.
