Biograpy


LEED Projects/Involvement:
Ms. Paulk provides a full array of LEED services but primarily serve as a "go to" person for LEED consultants and Owners for charrette facilitation, education programs and as a problem solver for design and documentation issues.  Sowing Green Collaborative is a non profit and many members are LEED consultants she supports.  Some projects that Ms. Paulk has been either the primary LEED A.P or a part of the LEED team are: Multi Buildings Atlantic Station, Atlanta Foodbank, Volume Portfolio CI Bank, Day Spa, Ikea Stoughton Mass, YMCA's, Arthur Blank Family Office, Mt Vernon k-12 School, Sand Pearl Resorts, Emory University School of Theology, Hines' 1140 Peachtree CS, Leed Home Fraternity Houses, Firehouses.  She also conducts many feasibility, status, and documentation reviews for LEED projects.      

USGBC Chapter/Affiliation Involvement:
Founding board member Atlanta Chapter and Affiliate.  Board liason to Southface Affiliate for 5 years.  Chapter Administrator for first 5 years.

Personal Narrative:
Jules Paulk is the founder and executive director of Sowing Green Collaborative, a nonprofit comprised of design, construction and environmental practitioners with a mission to facilitate and create green buildings and sustainable communities and to explore sustainable business models through education and techinical expertise. Prior to the launch of Sowing Green, Ms. Paulk launched Southface's commercial green building services and within 5 years she grew the commercial division to represent half of the 30 year old organization's operation.  Ms. Paulk managed four annual Greenprints Conferences and in 2005 served as the host city chair for the U.S. Green Building Council's Green Build Conference which brought over 10,000 design and construction professionals to Atlanta.  In addition Ms. Paulk has provided assistance to over 18 LEED certified buildings including, an IKEA, 2 speculative office towers, and the world's first site wide LEED for multiple buildings project (Atlantic Station).  A formally trained facilitator, Ms. Paulk is adept at chartering design teams, and providing eco-charrettes and sustainable education.  Some of her projects include Hope IV sustainable communities, government policy initiatives, diversity in the green building profession,  building science and passive sustainability for rebuilding post Katrina and numerous green buildings.  Ms. Paulk served as the project manager for Southface's Eco Office which will soon to be LEED platinum showcase. Ms. Paulk also serves on the National USGBC Education Steering Committee, and as the Chair of the USGBC's Professional Development Committee.
