Sustainable Homes Professional Certification

The Sustainable Homes Professional course provides a rigorous curriculum that focuses on the fundamentals of building science and sustainability for the residential real estate market. The course is composed of six modules, each two days in length, and involves classroom and field work. Process management is explored in the context of green building and a course synthesis project enables students to share their own experiences while learning from their colleagues# challenges, successes and process changes.

    • Describe strategies to incorporate planning, implementation, and documentation into your next project and create your own green project process management tool
    • Use actual house plans to calculate the overall UA of a house and analyze potential efficiency improvements
    • Select appropriate design features and assemblies according to project objectives and integrate building envelope details into plans and specifications
    • Evaluate system types by completing room-by-room load calculations using actual house plans and communicate integrated system specifications to all project team members
    • List strategies for reducing water consumption in and outside a house, and for reducing a site#s impact
